artist statement
My work is about discovering ways to materialize a very personal subject matter through an engagement with clay, and the act of sculpting and painting.
Through an exploration of the movement and emotions between the real and the imagined, the representational and the abstract, forms come into being that demand to be felt and enjoyed. I am working with memories of motions formed into images of objects.
The aim is to invest the material with a moving and emotional charge. This charge goes on to create a pervading atmosphere of freedom, lightness and joy around my work.
